First of all, I'm very disappointed that I missed Biggby Bob in Lima. I've been waiting so long to meet him here!! Secondly, I can't believe that guy didn't know the history of where Lima got it's name. Wikipedia shares the same story I've heard. “Lima” was the result. Its name originated with Judge Patrick G. Goode, who insisted on the Spanish pronunciation “Lee-mah” after the capital city of Peru, but the local vernacular — "Lye-mah" — prevailed. Goode proposed this name because an inoculant for malaria, which was prevalent in the area during its establishment, was manufactured there. Anyway, keep up the great work! Biggby's is my favorite coffee place around!!
CEO and Co-Founder of BIGGBY COFFEE.
Our first cafe began in March of 1995, and we began franchising in 1999. We now have over 157 cafes located in 9 states. We are a 100% franchised system....meaning local ownership.
I am spending much of the year on the road visiting our cafe owners, employees and customers....these are the chronicles of my visits.
